Jon started DJing in 1996 at the ripe age of 14yrs in his bedroom with a set of KAMs. He found his love for House Music… alongside good friend / DJ (J Walker AKA: Jose Cabellero) manouvering his way through the trance phase, putting on regular events at local labour club in his home town Chorley, then onto the Hed Kandi vibe eventually as he secured a place as finalist in DJ Idol comp in Manchester against some talented up and coming DJs.
Placing runner up yr1 at DJ Idol Jon then took 2nd place the year after and gain himself a regular slot at Club North (well known underground, sweat pit playing the 2Risque warm up sets) for the likes of Jon Fitz, Jason Herd (Residents) and some great Headliners of the early millenium such as Greame Park, Alistair Whitehead, Joey Negro, K Klass and more.
Jon then travelled round with another Manchester DJ as his warm up DJ in manchester every Fri & Sat before moving on to do a few sets at Sanky Soaps, Paparazzis & Area51 at Deansgate Locks (all again typically warming up for the big boys at the time).
About 2001 – Jon realised that in order to play better gigs he needed ditch the Manchester gigs and the Warm-up DJ status everyone knew him for. He found Boltons’ lively crowd and he dipped his toe in at another DJ comp at a popular record store in town (The Spin Inn).
He nailed 1st place and gained recognision from the store owner Johnny, who had a weekly night hosted in the towns busiest nightclub (Bar Juice). Johnny asked Jon to play alongside his DJs there and from then on Jon played most the cool venues in Bolton over the next 12-18 months meeting a fresh crowd and DJin amongst a fresh group of great DJs.
In 2003 Jon managed to play a few of the free parties and also through a stroke of luck got to play on the 24hr Dance Stage at Glastonbury. This stroke of luck led to Jon gaining a residency in Mooks Clothing Store (a retro clothing store that was erected at all the major festivals around the UK). He played throughout the day on and off and got to travel around the country with the team as their resident DJ for a while playing Leeds Festival, Reading Festival, Radio 1’s One Big Sunday in Liecester, Glastonbury again and also V Festival.
Jon then had a couple of seasons in Ibiza playing small bars and clubs around the Bora Bora area and also played on the boat parties before deciding in 2008 that it was time to settle down and concentrate on building a real career.
4yrs passed and Jon met his lovely fiancee Eve (AKA: Evie Tea) at a Greg Wilson event in his home town. Eve revived his passion (obviously raging to get out) as she was DJin from her bedroom and learning the ropes. Having escaped 2 failed marraige attempts (thank the lord!) he stumbles across a BLONDE HOTTIE HOUSE DJ… Jon has not looked back since, he set up R2F Radio on Sugar Shack, CHFM & AMW. He started the FUNKcast Series featuring global talent, launched R2F Records and held down some great chart spots hosting dope Artists. Launched R2F Clothing and continued to hold down R2F Radio Shows weekly with special guests.
2017 is set to be a great year for Jon Hart with a huge release schedule already secured for his label Reason 2 Funk Records, his radio shows are now being streamed live on Facebook, YouTube, Sugar Shack & WEBOHRE.fm every week. Various gigs already planned in this yr and lots of interest coming his way. Jon is not slowing down this yr so get in touch soon to book. New website going live in February (djjonhart.com) with focus on his releases (yes thats right – Jons a producer to).
If you want a DJ with an infectiously happy attitude that fills the dancefloor, Jons cheeky, jackin/tech vibe combined with his ability to creatively sculpt the mix whilst having fun with the crowd teasing them with classic drop is definitely a winning choice.
